Fairfax, Virginia, December 22, 2015

CGI (NYSE: GIB) (TSX: GIB.A) today announced that it has been awarded a US$19.6 million contract by the U.S. Marine Corps Blount Island Command, Jacksonville, Fla. CGI will provide worldwide logistics services, software systems support and operational logistics support in this five-year contract (base year plus four option years) to the Marine Corps, including the Marine Corps Maritime Prepositioning Force (MPF) Program. This is a recompete win for CGI, who has supported Blount Island Command since 1992.

MPF equipment and supplies rotate through the Blount Island support facility every three years for maintenance, upgrade or replacement. Advanced logistics support capabilities are critical because the Marine Corps’ expeditionary force must be capable of deploying anywhere in the world, operating with prepositioned equipment based either afloat or ashore and tailored to the needs of the mission. Blount Island Command serves as the Marine Corps lead for updating, maintaining and providing logistics support for prepositioning these equipment and supplies.

The new contract provides Blount Island Command with logistics, engineering and IT support in six major areas:

  • Prepositioning Objective tailoring
  • Logistics planning support
  • Technical data
  • Logistics information support systems
  • Programming support
  • Automated identification technology (AIT) implementation

Blount Island Command will gain quality and timely delivery of MPF plans, as well as the MPF logistics systems support needed for data quality control, tracking, training and help desk. In addition, AIT implementation will enable the streamlining of business processes in such areas as real-time tracking of equipment in maintenance or equipment distributed to units during MPF arrival and assembly.

“Managing logistics at Blount Island Command is an enormous mission CGI is proud to support with the type of advanced technology capabilities needed to meet the Command’s logistical challenges,” said Patrick Dougherty, CGI’s senior vice president for U.S. Defense Programs.
