Defense and security expertise
CGI has earned a reputation for solving technically complex challenges in electronic warfare, C4ISR, acquisitions and training, as well as cybersecurity, secure hosting, cloud solutions and systems integration. For example:
50+ digital solutions for military use and to improve operational efficiency
AI-powered solutions for more accurate decisions and effective processes within the NATO staff organization
Weather forecasts and situational updates via satellites for many European air forces
Advancing total defense
A comprehensive national security strategy that integrates military, economic, and civilian efforts, demands strong engagement from the industrial sector. Protecting critical infrastructure, the industrial base and supply chains is essential to ensure resilience. CGI secures many enterprises that support multiple armed forces with equipment and services.
Defense organizations must stay agile and vigilant to coordinate multi-domain operations effectively against evolving threats. We help them integrate AI-driven solutions to improve decision-making, accelerate the OODA-loop process and keep them ahead in dynamic environments.
Embracing a software-defined defense approach across air, sea, cyber, and space aligns with the Joint All Domain Command & Control (JADC2) strategy to enable real-time, secure, and interoperable operations. As a trusted partner, CGI is committed to supporting defense organizations and allies in maintaining security and resilience across the entire spectrum of defense.
- Secure, mobile multi-domain collaboration
-
CGI and secunet are NATO's industry partner for providing this capability as a fully managed service, highly available, reliable, scalable and secure. Our multi-security domain solution provides collaboration capabilities to Internet, NATO Unclassified (NU), NATO Restricted (NR) or higher networks from the same device.
Our desktop as a service (DaaS) provision includes mobility and the ability to work from anywhere with embedded secure connectivity based on SLAs and to manage obsolescence and technology refreshment as part of service cost (i.e., move from CapEx to OpEx).
- Defense situational awareness
-
Military electronic warfare (EW) and situational awareness systems are expensive to maintain, can lack the coverage or range required, and are difficult to integrate and distribute to partners. CGI SignalSense enables partner sharable multi-domain signals and geospatial intelligence fusion at scale, from cloud to edge. As a data fusion platform for defense situational awareness, CGI SignalSense is used to ingest and display EW sensor data insights alongside commercial ISR (intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance). Features include:
- A single pane of glass delivering an advanced combined intelligence picture to enhance battlespace decision making.
- Easily extensible data platform to quickly ingest and analyze new data sources.
- Machine learning toolsets to tune outputs to defense use cases, to reduce analyst cognitive burden, and to deliver insights.
- Aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul
-
CGI provides aviation MRO expertise internationally for the defense and commercial sectors, in strategic partnership with IFS, a globally recognized provider of solutions for the aerospace and defense industry.
As NATO faces complex aviation maintenance challenges, such as interoperability hurdles, cybersecurity threats, and supply chain dependencies, CGI is uniquely positioned to provide cutting-edge MRO solutions that enhance operational readiness and resilience.
With our deep defense, aviation and NATO experience, including our aviation maintenance collaboration within the Nordics, CGI can help NATO and its member states refine their aviation maintenance concept through advanced digital platforms, predictive analytics, and secure systems integration.
- CGI's Sunflower asset management
-
CGI's Sunflower asset management solutions support the entire asset lifecycle, ensuring accountability and operational success. Our cloud-based software as a service (SaaS) enables managers to monitor physical location, maintenance status, and accounting information across the whole asset management lifecycle on a granular scale. The asset management system of choice for more than 75 organizations, Sunflower is certified by FedRAMP® for use across U.S. federal agencies.
Sunflower's robust and secure capabilities are fully configurable to meet unique defense requirements. It orchestrates the management of diverse assets, spanning federal property, personal property, real property, IT assets, parts and materials, vehicles, sensitive assets and more. Sunflower increases operational efficiency and software standardization, delivering predictable costs while balancing flexibility and functionality. It enables defense organizations to improve decision-making, accountability, and regulatory compliance for all types of assets.
- NATO ACT's AI Felix: AI-assisted knowledge management
-
NATO and its partner organizations must be able to rapidly analyze and use security-relevant information.
We worked with NATO’s Allied Command Transformation (ACT) to develop and implement its first AI-supported modular “knowledge agent” as part of a lighthouse project with the BI-SC NATO SECRET (NS) security classification level.
The solution works without an Internet connection, significantly speeds processes, and delivers highly precise results.
- Cloud adoption framework
-
The NATO 2030 transformation brings several challenges, including adapting to new cyber threats, integrating new technologies, and improving interoperability between member states. In addition, security standards for handling sensitive data in the cloud must be strengthened while ensuring flexibility for multinational operations. CGI's partnership approach and Cloud Adoption Framework address these challenges by:
- Applying best practices from many cloud transformation projects and ensuring a secure and scalable migration to the cloud.
- Ensuring that NATO organizations can use cloud services without compromising their security requirements.
- Supporting implementation of compliance standards, integration of new technologies and harmonization of IT infrastructures.
- Promoting agile collaboration and improved data analysis capabilities.
- Providing a resilient cloud solution that enables NATO member states to respond more flexibly to threats and operational requirements through automation and cybersecurity measures.
