CGI, (NYSE: GIB) (TSX: GIB.A) one of the largest IT and business consulting services firms in the world, recently brought its Cyber Escape experience to the University of Nottingham for a week long residency at the University Park Campus.
Combining the fun of an escape room with the themes of cyber security, the experience allowed staff, students, and local organisations to learn critical IT security skills in a real-world setting, and better understand why IT security needs to be a regular consideration at work and at home.
Purpose built in a 40ft long shipping container, the Cyber Escape experience is set in an old disused warehouse where teams test their cyber skills by working together to uncover clues, solve puzzles, and accomplish cyber-related tasks to “escape” successfully in the time allowed.
The University of Nottingham began its partnership with CGI in 2021, engaging them as an external digital partner to co-manage and co-deliver its foundational IT services alongside the in-house digital and technology services team. Since the partnership began, CGI and the University have embarked on a transformation of the University’s technology landscape to enable the delivery of next-generation digital services. CGI has helped the University to gain a greater understanding of the current technical landscape, plan and prioritise digital roadmap investments, reduce operational and information security risk, and improve experiences for students, academic and professional services staff.

The Cyber Escape experience was developed by CGI's UK Cyber Security practice to train, educate and engage with organisations to help them better understand cyber security risks, complement any existing security awareness training, and increase knowledge of how to reduce the impact of a cyber-attack in a unique way.
CGI’s Cyber Escape is transported around the country to different locations for students and staff to participate in their cyber adventure, or arrangements may be made to visit the experience at a CGI location.
