Cybersecurity - A critical program for credit unions and banks
Ensuring that credit unions (CUs), banks and other financial institutions have robust cybersecurity strategies and solutions is essential to managing risk, protecting business value and safeguarding client assets and loyalty. The Atlantic Credit Union System (ACUS) is a network operating across all four Atlantic Provinces. It consists of 40+ independent co-operative financial institutions in 143 locations, ranging from the 22-branch CU with over 300 employees to the single-branch credit union (CU) with six employees. Working with its trusted technology partner, League Data, ACUS needed an updated and comprehensive cybersecurity solution that would be a good fit for all the different ACUS member institutions.
Following an in-depth evaluation process of various cybersecurity vendors, CGI was selected by and worked with League Data and ACUS to implement a cybersecurity roadmap that involved assessment, recommendations, governance and activation. The result is a disciplined managed cybersecurity service and a cybersecurity governance structure that brings best-in-class protection to all the member institutions and their clients.
The way CGI works with the individual Atlantic CUs is evidence of CGI’s impressive understanding of the CU culture. If League Data could score this service an “11 out 10”, it would do so.

Limiting CU risk across the system with improved cybersecurity
The process used an end-to-end strategy to identify cybersecurity vulnerabilities and threats and implemented up-to-date, industry-standard solutions to protect against them fully. The MCS helped assess cybersecurity needs and establish tailored suggestions to improve governance frameworks that CUs could implement to achieve alignment and cohesion across all ACUS member institutions. The CGI offering specifically addressed the unique and varied levels of IT and cybersecurity awareness, knowledge and maturity across the different CUs.
