CGI has a 40-plus year tradition of investing in the communities in which we work and live. When members in our Hyderabad, India office learned that a nearby school’s water supply contained high levels of chlorine and other impurities, they acted quickly. Through a donation campaign, members provided a state-of-the-art water purification system to the Zilla Parishad High School (ZPHS) to ensure the students attending the school—and local children who visit school grounds for extracurricular activities—have access to clean, safe drinking water.
In addition to donating the water purification system, CGI volunteers worked alongside representatives from the Akshaya Patra Foundation to donate and distribute writing supplies and pre-owned laptop bags to more than 200 students at the school.
ZPHS is part of a government initiative to provide higher education to underprivileged children. This school and others are established, supervised and funded by local governments.
The Akshaya Patra Foundation is a NGO that provides a mid-day meal to 1.6 million school children throughout India to counter classroom hunger. CGI regularly works with The Akshaya Patra Foundation to identify schools in and around Hyderabad in need of support.
