As the pandemic pushed education online, students in government schools suffered setbacks as they were unable to access and afford virtual learning options. In partnership with the Sikshana Foundation, CGI supported 21 government schools in the Maddur Educational Block, reaching out to 1500 students with paper-based learning modules at their homes.
As a result, children continued to learn while schools were closed and retained their basic Arithmetic and Language competencies. With Sikshaana, our objective was to make education accessible for the underprivileged and to create a model designed to weather disruptions or unfortunate events in the future. Through this initiative, we’ve helped reduce the chances of students dropping out of school and help them retain their interest in learning.
We also conducted events for students on National Science Day and National Mathematics Day. These initiatives further fuel their interest in applying and implementing the concepts they’ve learned so far.
