In today’s rapidly changing work environment, prioritizing professionals’ well-being has become a fundamental organizational imperative. Emphasizing mental health and overall well-being is not just a moral obligation but a strategic advantage that can enhance productivity, creativity, and retention.
Organizations that foster a culture of well-being recognize that mental health is a critical component of overall professional satisfaction. By implementing comprehensive mental health programs - such as access to counseling services, stress management resources, and wellness initiatives - companies can create a supportive atmosphere that encourages professionals to prioritize their mental health without stigma.
Leadership plays a pivotal role in this endeavor. Effective leaders model well-being by promoting work-life balance, encouraging open communication, and actively seeking their teams' feedback.
CGI’s commitment to health and well-being
At CGI, we believe that our professionals are at the core of our success. For over two decades, health and well-being have been integral to our strategy. We are deeply committed to supporting our professionals' health, growth, and development.
We spoke with Sadra Sandra Mårtensson, Health & Well-being Specialist at CGI in Denmark, Sweden, and Norway to learn more about CGI’s dedication to well-being.
Why is prioritizing the well-being of CGI professionals, so crucial in today's work environment?
"It's fundamental to the success of both our people and the firm. CGI recognized the importance of well-being over two decades ago by establishing our first team of health experts. Today, we have a global, multidisciplinary centre of expertise, including psychotherapists, health coaches, occupational therapists, and organizational psychologists. This reflects CGI’s long-standing commitment to health and well-being and sets us apart from other companies."
"By investing in well-being initiatives, such as 'Mental Health Month,' free counseling services through 'MAP – My Assistance Program,' and stress management resources, we create a healthier work environment where all our professionals can perform at their best without fear of stigma."
How is CGI integrating well-being into the broader business strategy and our daily operations?
"To fully support all our professionals' well-being, we are integrating our health and well-being strategies into CGI's management foundation. This can include providing training for our leaders to recognize signs of distress among team members, sharing knowledge on resilience, mindset and mindfulness, as well as offering hybrid working models that support flexibility and self-care," Sandra says and concludes:
"A workplace that prioritizes health and well-being becomes a foundation for long-term success."
