CGI Group Inc., (TSX: GIB.A) (NYSE: GIB), a leading provider of information technology and business process services, today announced it has been successful in its tender for the four lots of the Government Procurement Services’ G-Cloud III following the OJEU tender process. Through G-Cloud III CGI will retain and build on its offerings to public sector organisations across Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS) and Specialist Cloud Services.
G-Cloud is a mechanism for local and central government and other public bodies to help them quickly and simply select proven and flexible cloud-based IT services. The framework will see CGI offer a range of services tailored to meet the public sector’s needs. These services build on CGI’s proven expertise and over 35 year heritage in delivering services and intellectual property offerings to 2,000 public sector organisations across the UK, Europe and North America. G-Cloud III will include a number of new SAAS managed services from CGI such as a Case Management System (CMS) and Police Record Management System (delivered in partnership with SME NicheRMS) in addition to existing services that have been upgraded to even better meet the needs of clients.
Paula Sussex, Senior Vice-President of Public Services UK at CGI said, “The G-Cloud programme is being proven to offer public sector organisations with greatly improved agility, flexibility and choice of ICT whilst enabling substantial cost savings. We believe the G-Cloud approach has real importance in enabling rapid innovation and development of IT services that will help transform the way public sector organisations are able to serve citizens.”
G-Cloud III is the latest phase of the UK government’s procurement framework, which is part of the government wide commitment to the adoption of cloud computing and delivery of computing resources. CGI has been included in the G-Cloud initiative since its inception. The G-Cloud is intended to deliver fundamental changes to the way the public sector procures and operates ICT, with the aim to see public cloud services account for over 50% of Government ICT spending by 2015.
CGI’s expertise in government cloud services was recently recognised by Frost & Sullivan when it was presented the 2013 North American Company of the Year Award in Government Cloud Solutions.
