Over 600 million children and adolescents worldwide are unable to attain minimum proficiency levels in reading and mathematics, even though two thirds of them are in school.

This fifth International Day of Education celebrated on 24 January 2023 champions the theme “to invest in people, prioritize education”. To celebrate education and reflect on the importance of learning for development UNICEF and CGI in the UK have partnered to share insights on education, skills and digital technology to accelerate progress towards all the Sustainable Development Goals.

Education must be prioritized to accelerate progress towards all the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These SDGs, launched in 2015, are a global call for affordable and clean energy, sustainable cities and communities, climate action, and more. In order to achieve these goals governments, businesses, NGO’s and the global community needs to adapt, innovate and revolutionise social structures, modes of economic growth and natural resource utilisation. Science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) is at the forefront of accomplishing the SDGs, as these fields are our pathways for implementing change.

Join our speakers as they discuss the need for Education in young and adolescent adults and provide knowledge to governments, businesses, individuals of what can be done.
