“Smart Objectives - Smart devices are filling up our homes. How can we improve customers' lives by making the most of SMART technology?”

At NWG Innovation Festival 2018, CGI led a design sprint focused on exploring how SMART technology can improve water customers’ lives. The result of the 5-day challenge was Barnacle, a new smart device able to detect water leaks and potential issues with water supply before consumers are even aware there is a problem. Barnacle is now becoming a reality as CGI and Northumbrian Water have been working together since 2018 to develop a working prototype.
