Sydney, Australia, 26 September 2022

CGI (NYSE: GIB) (TSX: GIB.A) and RISE Racing, the data and systems provider for the Australian Harness Racing industry, have joined forces to build a digital ID platform. The partnership combines CGI’s industry and technology expertise and RISE Racing’s subject matter expertise in racing to deliver digital innovation for anyone directly engaged in Australian horse racing.

The new digital ID product is built within RISE Racing’s integrated platform and is an industry first for Australia. A digital ID account gives participants access to a check-in dashboard that allows drivers, trainers and owners to automate ID checks and ensure secure check-in.

Digital swabbing, the transformation of a traditionally paper-based tracking process, is currently being developed and will be integrated into the solution in the coming months. Enhanced security features and restrictions on who can access the platform ensure that no unauthorised individuals will have access to the information entered. One of the key benefits of the system is limiting challenges to data integrity such of the loss or alteration of records.

The digital ID’s integrity features validate each individual for a streamlined process – every participant has an account and their identification information resides in the platform until it needs to be validated. This innovative solution can be saved to any mobile device and also has the option to print a physical ID card after identity has been confirmed.

Thomas Crawford, Vice President, Consulting Services at CGI in Australia said: “We are delighted to have developed a digital ID in partnership with RISE Racing. It’s been a fantastic opportunity to meet and work with a team here in Australia who are as passionate and committed to digital innovation as we are. We have capitalised on our expertise in the industry to develop a platform that is more streamlined and efficient than anything else used by the industry before.”

Dan Boariu, General Manager, RISE Racing added: “We are focused on bringing more value to our customers through our technology and newly formed product practice. The partnership with CGI is the next step towards our goal to build an integrated platform for the whole Australian Harness Racing industry. The integrity features and technological capabilities of CGI used in this digital ID platform are crucial in realising this goal.”

The system’s checks are implemented live against a proven database that resides securely within the platform. Unlike other states and bodies, digital ID operates at a national level which improves overall organisational efficiency.
