At CGI in the UK, we are committed to sustainability and carbon reduction. We have committed to a science-based emission reduction pathway of 1.5°C and are engaging with our clients and suppliers to help guide them on their journeys to net zero. We are also active in supporting our communities to protect and restore the environment as well as empowering our employees (known as CGI Partners) to understand and reduce their impact on the planet.
We have developed a Carbon Calculator to help our CGI Partners and clients measure and reduce their carbon emissions from their projects and programmes. The Carbon and Energy Calculator is our new online tool designed to help our employees and clients estimate and reduce their carbon emissions from their projects and programmes. The calculator is part of our commitment to sustainability and carbon reduction, as we aim to achieve net zero targets and support our communities and stakeholders in their environmental efforts.
The calculator uses advanced algorithms and data sources to estimate the carbon footprint of different activities, such as travel, energy use, materials, and waste. The calculator also provides suggestions on how to lower emissions and achieve net zero targets. By using our Carbon Calculator, organisations and individuals can improve their environmental performance, comply with regulations, and demonstrate a commitment to sustainability.
The creation of the Carbon Calculator follows the introduction of several voluntary standards for CGI in the UK, such as the ISO 26000, Social Value Quality Mark and The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures. Additionally, in readiness for new obligations such as the recently announced UK government Procurement Policy Note (PPN) on carbon emissions, our Sustainability team have created the calculator to also produce real-time emission values that can support our government and private sector clients.
