Well here goes, my first blog, I hope you enjoy it. I plan to use this channel on a regular basis to share my thoughts on a variety of topics.
CGI is a people business. Ensuring that we are providing the best possible environment and culture for our people to build their careers and develop their skills is critical to our success.
At CGI, the emphasis is on ownership and all of our employees are encouraged to become shareholders in the company so that they can be part of our future success. We pride ourselves on creating a work environment in which our members can participate and thrive.
I had the pleasure of attending the Top Employers awards dinner on Thursday 26 Feb, along with colleagues from HR and all parts of the CGI UK business.
The annual awards created by the Top Employers Institute recognises leading employers around the world that provide excellent employee conditions, and nurture and develop talent throughout all levels of the organisation.
This time last year CGI was one of 75 companies recognised as a Top Employer in the UK, with a table at the back of the hall by the columns I recall, with very little view of the podium!
Twelve months later, and a lot of hard work by a dedicated team, we were in the front row of tables, fingers crossed for a top 10 position.
The countdown started for the top 10 employers in the UK, could we be in the top 5?
What a great result, we are recognised in the top 5 as a Top Employer in the UK, a fantastic achievement and a real testimony to how far we have travelled over the past two years to really engage with our greatest asset, our people.
We have been recognised by the Top Employer Institute for our wide range of creative initiatives from secondary benefits and working conditions, to performance management programmes that are well thought out, and truly aligned with the company culture.
Never has the CGI dream – To create an environment in which we enjoy working together and, as owners, contribute to building a company we can be proud of– been more real than it was on that night at the Top Employers awards dinner.
Many congratulations to all CGI UK members, especially our HR team and we hope to build on this great achievement and to gain a top 3 position next year.
