CGI (NYSE: GIB) (TSX: GIB.A) will partner with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) in a two-year call off contract valued at over £35 million. The agreement will see CGI become an extension of the HMRC team, working with its existing Chief Technology and Design Office (CTDO) to build user-focused technology solutions. HMRC is the government department responsible for safeguarding the flow of money to the exchequer through its collection, compliance and enforcement activities and has one of the largest IT estates in Europe.
CGI will support HMRC to provide on-demand contracted services for its Future Project and Programme portfolio. The scope for this contract is to partner with HMRC's Chief Technology and Design Office team in the delivery of future projects and programmes as required on a per-project basis, to support the aim of becoming the preferred business partner for new technology delivery. The contract will include a broad range of project deliverables through statements of work across a number of skill areas.
CGI will provide a breadth of skills and technology capabilities across key areas including enterprise, solution and data architecture. It will also supply a range of in-house specialists in the design of user-centred products, innovation support, strategy and assurance across a broad range of technologies. Over the course of the engagement, HMRC expects to issue CGI with periodic statements of work for the fulfilment of specific projects or objectives.
Tara McGeehan, President of CGI in the UK and Australia said: “We are delighted to take on this important new role of IT partner to HMRC’s Chief Technology and Design Office team. We are excited to work on meaningful initiatives bringing our expertise in delivering intelligent technology solutions in ways that work for all users to HMRC.”
Michael Herron, Senior Vice President, Central Government for CGI in the UK added: “In supporting the government’s agenda we're committed to working with a community of preferred small and medium sized enterprises and have created an ecosystem to help deliver these services. The proportion of work delivered by these enterprises will be measured on an ongoing basis. CGI has also committed to a range of Social Value commitments and as a member of the Canal & River Trust we will engage with both our suppliers and HMRC to run hands-on biodiversity events throughout the engagement.”
This IT Strategy & Architecture contract puts CGI at the heart of the HMRC IT strategy, working with the CTDO team to help shape the future services HMRC will provide to support the UK economy with programmes such as 'Making Tax Digital' and 'Transformation of the UK Customs & Borders'.
