The Ministry of Defence (MOD) is a ministerial department of the UK Government, responsible for implementing the defence policy and serving as the headquarters of the British Armed Forces. In readiness for a major transformation programme, a business unit within the MOD engaged CGI to conduct a training needs analysis and design effective training solutions that would help its staff prepare for their new ways of working.
This MOD business unit was undergoing complex change and sought CGI’s business change and learning and development expertise to support its preparations.
It needed to understand the current and future roles, skills and competencies of its personnel, and design effective training solutions that would help staff prepare for their future ways of working, as well as enable the MOD business unit to achieve its transformation objectives.
It was essential that this exercise – conducting a training needs analysis – aligned with MOD policies and requirements.
Our work included:
- A detailed training needs analysis of the roles, skills and responsibilities required to support the MOD business unit’s future operating model.
- Desk-side interviews and data analysis to identify training gaps and objectives.
- Designing optimal training solutions for the roles identified, to ensure successful change implementation.
- Helping the MOD business unit understand the skills its staff would need to develop with the future introduction of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML).
