SULZBACH, Germany, Nov. 27, 2017 - CGI (NYSE: GIB) (TSX: GIB.A) has opened a new security operations center (SOC) in Germany to provide commercial and public sector clients with a wide range of global IT security services backed by the support of local, highly qualified cybersecurity experts. The SOC facilitates the comprehensive monitoring and evaluation of an organization's data and systems to proactively identify, recommend and assist in remediation of security risks. Through sophisticated big data capabilities, CGI's cybersecurity experts can uncover hidden patterns of cyber attacks that would otherwise go undetected.

The new Germany SOC is part of CGI's expanding network of SOCs around the world, with each SOC focused on countering today's increasing security threats and challenges. Through these SOCs, CGI detects and analyzes hundreds of millions of cyber attacks each month, and, as a result, CGI's cybersecurity experts have up-to-date knowledge of acute threat situations.

Hundreds of clients around the world and in Germany rely on the CGI's managed security services, including email and anti-virus protection, endpoint protection, incident management, firewall and network security, data encryption, intrusion detection and prevention, as well as defending against denial-of-service attacks. CGI also offers security information and event management as a service. Key components of this offering include active security monitoring and alerting through a comprehensive, transparent and modular approach.

"Today, an organization's success is dependent on an effective IT security strategy more than ever," said Torsten Straß, Senior Vice-President of CGI's operations in Germany. "Based on the findings of in-depth interviews with more than 1,300 business and technology leaders as part of the 2017 CGI Client Global Insights, cybersecurity is a top priority for 74% of leaders interviewed worldwide, up from 62% in 2016. It is a key factor in the digitalization of an organization's business processes and the rapid implementation of its digital transformation strategy. CGI's managed security services support organizations in managing risks in a proactive and holistic manner."

"On average, cyber attacks are detected only after approximately 200 days," explained Frank Reiländer, Director of Cybersecurity for CGI in Germany. "Building the necessary infrastructure and hiring highly qualified specialists imposes a considerable financial cost on organizations. Specialized IT services providers like CGI can provide the required services more effectively and for less cost. Ideally, we can reduce the time needed to detect an attack down to minutes."
