The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has awarded CGI Federal Inc. (CGI), a wholly-owned U.S. operating subsidiary of CGI Group Inc. (NYSE: GIB) (TSX: GIB.A), a US$8.9 million two-year contract to develop and implement the CMS Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight’s (CCIIO) Rate and Benefits Information System (RBIS).
Under the contract, CGI will design, develop, and implement RBIS, which collects rate and benefits data from health insurance providers. Through RBIS, this information will be made available on the Department of Health and Human Services’ Healthcare.gov website, providing consumers with resources to make appropriate and affordable health and health insurance-related decisions. Consumers are able to review benefit, cost sharing, and basic price comparison information for the health plans locally available to them.
“RBIS is critical to empowering citizens with healthcare decision-making tools and central to CMS’s mission of ensuring effective, up-to-date health care coverage and promoting quality care for consumers,” added Rich Martin, Vice-President, CGI.
“CGI and CMS have a strong partnership that supports legislative mandates, enables healthcare consumer empowerment, and enhances interactions between the government and the health plan community,” said Cheryl Campbell, Senior Vice-President, CGI.
