Under a new outsourcing agreement, which extends over five years with the possibility of an extension for up to two years, CGI will support Bankgirot with the management and development of its IT systems. As part of the collaboration, some employees within Bankgirot's IT department will transition to CGI as portions of the development work move to CGI's Global Delivery Center in Östersund, Sweden. The agreement is worth approximately SEK 300 million over five years.
“We have worked with Bankgirot for a long time and know each other well,” said Pär Fors, head of CGI’s operations in Sweden. “To now have the opportunity to expand our collaboration and be involved in the next steps of Bankgirot's digital journey is really exciting. CGI is today one of the leading suppliers of systems for financial transactions in the world, with many large banks and institutions on our client list. Working with Bankgirot is a very important assignment for us.”
Bankgirot has a long tradition of innovation in financial services, including well-known auto payment, e-invoice and real-time payment solutions. CGI has managed portions of Bankgirot's IT operations since 2008, including approximately 70 applications.
“Bankgirot's ambition is to take payments in Sweden to the next level in terms of safety and efficiency,” said Jeanette Jäger, CEO of Bankgirot. “In the change that is now taking place at Bankgirot, CGI is a very good partner.”
Bankgirot’s unique place in the banking industry contributes to the economic everyday life of six million individuals and about half a million companies. All IT development and management at Bankgirot must be of the highest quality while keeping pace with customer demands for change. The new agreement with CGI also includes agile application management for safe and reliable operations, agile system development and a new delivery model via CGI's delivery center in Östersund.
