Sacramento, California, April 25, 2012

CGI Group Inc. (NYSE: GIB) (TSX: GIB.A), a leading provider of information technology and business process services, today announced $4,000 in donations to Sacramento area organizations for local environmental projects focused on youth empowerment and education. CGI has more than 150 employees in the Sacramento area focused on partnering with the State of California on its most critical information technology projects.

In celebration of Earth Month, the CGI team in Sacramento publicized the opportunity to apply for funding to First 5 Sacramento, a group of organizations that seek to improve the lives of young children and their families. Organizations applied by submitting a 140 character message to CGI in California on Facebook and Twitter describing how they would use $2,000 and volunteer hours for an Earth Month-inspired project.

The Child Abuse Prevention Center, in collaboration with Sacramento Children’s Home and AmeriCorps, was awarded $2,000 by CGI. The donation will be used for the restoration of two acres of land at a crisis nursery facility and the creation of safe outdoor play space for the children staying at the nursery. In addition to the donation, CGI members will contribute time toward the restoration effort during CGI’s annual Day of Service scheduled for May.

Two other finalists, Health Education Council and F.C. Joyce Pre-School, were additionally awarded $1,000 donations by CGI. Health Education Council will use the funding toward the planting of community gardens for local First 5 schools and sites. F.C. Joyce Pre-School will use the award to enhance their environmental education program and outdoor classroom.

“Giving back to the community in which we live and work has always been a priority for CGI and our members in Sacramento,” said Josetta Bull, Vice-President and CGI State of California Account Executive. “We applaud the efforts of these local organizations and are pleased to support their important programs.”
