Steve Sousa leads the Health and Social Services business unit at CGI Federal, a wholly-owned U.S. operating subsidiary of CGI, Inc.
Under his leadership, Mr. Sousa’s team supports clients in federal healthcare agencies. Mr. Sousa has been integral in expanding the company’s healthcare business line and broadening the client base that CGI Federal serves, which has led to substantial growth. Steve has extensive experience in federal regulatory compliance, healthcare policy, strategic planning, IT development, financial analysis, business development and project management. Mr. Sousa’s portfolio is currently valued at $150M in annual revenue ($3.5B in contract value) and 700 members, with continued growth expected in the future.
A recognized industry leader, Mr. Sousa was a Federal 100 award recipient in 2020, a Pinnacle Award finalist in 2020 and 2023, and was named by WashingtonExec as one of the Top Health Care Execs to Watch in 2021, 2022 and 2023.
Mr. Sousa has a proven record of accomplishments managing projects and systems on time and on budget, under stringent regulatory mandates and meeting legislated release dates. These implementations are producing effective systems envisioned by numerous legislative, judicial, CMS and Medicare provider and beneficiary stakeholders. His creativity and innovative capabilities have led and supported the creation of a number of user-centric tools (provisional patent) and working groups.
His thought leadership demonstrates his authorship of numerous white papers and industry studies. Mr. Sousa represents CGI on the Global Health Council, National Contract Management Association, and is active in HIMSS and the Northern Virginia Technology Council.
Additionally, Mr. Sousa is working with professors at Carnegie Mellon University, a recognized a leader in robotics, to advance best practices for government transformation.
Mr. Sousa holds a Master of Science degree in Healthcare and Technology from the Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor’s degree from Duquesne University.
