CGI (NYSE: GIB) (TSX: GIB.A) today announced that it received the Center for Digital Government “Best Fit Integrator” Performance and Modernization Award for its work on the California Franchise Tax Board (FTB) Enterprise Data to Revenue (EDR) program. The awards program is driven by nominations from public sector agencies and recognizes vendors that successfully tailor solutions to fit the unique needs of government.
The EDR program is transforming California’s tax administration process operations, providing better tax collection services, reducing taxpayer burden, and reducing the state’s tax gap—the difference between what is owed and what is collected. In July 2014, EDR recoveries topped the $1 billion mark, a milestone achieved 10 months ahead of schedule. CGI’s innovative yet practical solution allows the state to take a much more centralized approach to its tax collection activities, gives FTB personnel a single payer view for resolving collections issues, and uses powerful workflow and analytics capabilities to enhance operational productivity and performance effectiveness.
“We are gratified to see CGI win this well deserved award,” said FTB Chief Information Officer Cathy Cleek, adding, “Working in partnership, we have developed a system that not only automates manual processes, but enables better use of collector time, leverages predictive modeling for better results overall, and provides taxpayers’ web-enabled taxpayer self-service. EDR is a best fit system and CGI is truly a best fit integrator.”
“We thank FTB and the Center for Digital Government for recognizing CGI,” said CGI Senior Vice President Dave Delgado. “By recovering revenue for the state which it can invest in additional services, FTB and CGI’s efforts here have a real and personal impact on millions of citizens. This is a true example of the power of technology to transform government.”
