At 15 years old, Torsten Strass launched a software development company—the start of a dedicated career in helping industry leaders adopt technology as a driver of transformation. Today, Torsten serves as Executive Vice-President and Chief Business Engineering Officer, supporting CGI teams worldwide with the design and implementation of managed IT and business process services that enable clients to invest in innovation while achieving significant efficiency gains. He brings to this role a deep understanding of how technology helps clients across commercial and government industries transform their operations.
Prior to this role, Torsten led CGI operations across Europe. He served as President of CGI’s Scandinavia and Central Europe operations from 2022-2024, and as President of CGI’s Central and Eastern Europe operations from 2018-2022. Across these roles, he built a considerable track record of growing successful businesses, delivering CGI’s full end-to-end services value proposition.
Torsten joined CGI in 2012 following the merger with Logica, serving as Senior Vice-President of CGI’s Germany operations. Here, he expanded his team from 1,300 to 2,500 professionals, growing alongside clients across this dynamic IT and consulting services market. At Logica, he was the managing director of the Germany business, having joined from its merger with Unilog.
Torsten joined Unilog through its acquisition of Avinci AG, where he was one of six founders of this IT consulting agency. He served as Chairman of the Management Board where he grew the firm from 70 to 400 employees. Prior to the founding of Avinci, Torsten worked for nine years for IBM Global Services.
In 2017, Torsten was recognized as a CGI Builder for his contributions to building CGI and in recognition of his ability to meet and exceed the expectations of our stakeholders—clients, CGI Partners and shareholders. Torsten holds a computing engineering degree from Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University.
