CGI (NYSE: GIB) (TSX: GIB.A) announced it will continue support for CONNECT, an open-source secure messaging platform connected to the eHealth Exchange, now that the government has ended its own support.

After Sept 15, 2019, the CONNECT open source solution, an e-gov initiative led by the Federal Health Architecture (FHA) under the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), will transition from FHA management to the private sector

CONNECT is a secure messaging platform that acts as a gateway to the eHealth Exchange, but can be expanded to support a much wider range of Health IT requirements. CGI has worked extensively on CONNECT in support of FHA since 2010 to enhance it as a standards-based interoperability platform. CGI’s support of various federal and state health information exchanges over the last decade provides the organizations that rely on interoperability a trusted partner in this domain.

“The FHA launched CONNECT a decade ago as a way to connect to what was then called the Nationwide Health Information Network (now known as the eHealth Exchange) using an open source platform,” said CGI Federal Vice-President, Ksheeraja Velangulam. “CGI is proud of our role in this important step toward nationwide health IT interoperability, and pleased that our support will continue.”

As the connected Health IT community expands, and the requirements to interoperate increase, CGI will provide integration and standards-based testing services for organizations in the federal government and the broader private and public health sector.
