Congratulations to the winning team, ASN. well done Abby, Sage, and Nicolette!
Team ASN made up of students Abby, Sage, and Nicolette from Montour School District, created their app, The Bus Loop to make school transportation easier for parents, students, and administrators. With a school bus tracker app, parents can monitor the location of their child's bus, receive alerts when the bus is approaching their stop, and ensure that their child arrives at school or home safely. Their sponsor, Trent Karlik supported this team, along with CGI Mentors Andy Tormasi, Sumati Shetty, Saadiq Jones, and university mentors, Priyanka Saarkate and Merve Keskin.
Judges loved the idea. They shared feedback around fabulous video skills and creativity. They loved how helpful it was for students, teachers, administrators, and of course parents.
About the Challenge
CGI IT Girl Challenge is a mobile app challenge for high school girls. Small teams partner with CGI mentors to develop a smartphone app utilizing a mobile app-building platform. Each team presents its mobile app to a panel of judges. The most innovative, applicable, and creative mobile app design team receives college scholarship funds.
The challenge originated at CGI’s Innovation Center in Pittsburgh. Thanks to CGI’s Dream Connectors program, it has become an annual event in Pittsburgh and expanded across the U.S.
