CGI has confirmed its commitment to be a silver level sponsor for the Diversity Recruitment Sponsorship (DRS) Program at Virginia Tech. This is a sponsorship for the full 2020-2021 school year, designed to provide employers more engagement opportunities with the underrepresented and underserved student population in the university's Pamplin College of Business.
"This is a great example of how CGI, and our recruiting team in particular, are engaging with colleges and universities to establish relationships with
underrepresented and underserved populations at schools such as Virginia Tech. Programs like these not only provide assistance to those students, but to also further diversify the population students who apply to positions at CGI." said Rich Ota, chair of CGI Federal's Diversity and Inclusion Council when asked about the program.
This partnership will include an official partner logo, recognition at Business Horizons Fairs, invitations to inclusion dinners, the ability to serve as mentors to students through Pamplin's Undergraduate Mentoring Programs (PUMP), classroom presentations and diversity workshops. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many events that had been scheduled for the fall have been reset to the spring semester in hopes that in-person encounters can resume by then.
The added bonus with this partnership is that each dollar received from the sponsorship is matched 2-to-1 to raise funds for the New Horizons Scholarship which will be awarded to underrepresented and underserved incoming first year students valued at $20,000 each ($5,000 per year or $2,500 per semester) for the 2021-2022 academic year.
