CGI dira Medox, part of the dira Dimension radio production suite, is a cross-platform and responsive web-based audio and cross-mix editor that serves as a central editing tool for journalists and provides access to the entire dira radio software system. Installation and updates are simple and centralized, and the application can also be used on multiple devices, including Mac.*

dira Medox uses media tools like HTML5 Player for native browser media essence previews, pre-listening and editing. StarTrack Editor comes integrated for more complex editing.

Clients can access dira Medox from anywhere without a local pre-installation. All functionalities are available across locations and devices.

*Please note that Medox is not compatible with the Safari browser.

Web-based audio editing

Flexible user interfaces

Users of multimedia software work in dynamic environments where functions and situations frequently change. dira Dimension allows clients to change their role via a selection list without having to log in again. For example, a technical editor may have access to a short list of functions with a lot of details, while a news editor might have a longer list with fewer details. Depending on the task, you can freely choose between the user interfaces to customize the dira features to your needs.

The workflow engine in dira Dimension serves as a command center for designing flexible workflows and can also be used as a standalone product. The setup, configuration, and monitoring are done via a web interface.

The requirements for automation have grown over time and there are different ways to perform these automation processes within dira Dimension. It is possible to arrange the use of standards as well as to design scalable mechanisms. Small tasks such as copying to complex operations with cascading import or export connections and archiving chains can be automated.

Integration interfaces in the dira Dimension solution can be created based on standard web technologies. One of these technologies is REST-API which facilitates integration with third-party tools and enables custom development. Web-based interface integrations enable new tools and solutions to be connected to dira Dimension (e.g., Medox as a plugin for newsroom systems like MOS HTML5 or Medox as a plugin for video editing software).

The dira software provides a general messaging service with REST-API to connect applications and ensures seamless communication.

It comes with:

  • Plugin interface for third-party worker dynamic link libraries (DDLs) in workflow engine (WFE) supervisor
  • Generic interface for connecting REST-API services as workers
  • REST-API interface for easy triggering of workflows from third-party applications (e.g., MusicMaster scheduled imports)
