Professional editing on a laptop

Many editing tasks in daily broadcasting production are simple cuts, trims and volume changes, quickly and easily accomplished with a single-track editor. However, some program items need a powerful, yet easy-to-use, tool for comprehensive editing. While there are many audio editors available on the market, not only do they represent a substantial investment in software, they also do not always integrate seamlessly into the workflow of a server-based environment.

dira Startrack is a powerful, craft-level multi-track editor fully integrated into the dira production environment.

  • On-the-fly audio recording
  • Editing for up to 16 tracks
  • VST plugin integration
  • Loudness-compliant production
  • Standalone mode possible
  • Accessibility features

Transcripts and speech-to-text

With dira Startrack you can edit an audio file by opening it with its corresponding transcript from dira Dimension, or local storage. You can also search for words within the transcript using the search function and save text sections as new clips.

Genealogy

dira Startrack software enhances media asset management by storing genealogy data and tracking the origin and history of every processed contribution. By having detailed metadata and historical data on each file, broadcasters can easily manage, retrieve, and repurpose media assets—improving overall efficiency and content quality in their workflows.

VST-plugins

Effects are provided using standard VST plugins. Each of these plugins can be applied to a single track or the entire mixdown. Besides the huge range of commercially available plugins, the dira Startrack software comes with a selection of commonly used plugins including graphic and parametric equalizers, dynamic control and master mixer.

    Easy-to-use features

Once the first workflow items have been placed on the editor timeline of dira Startrack, you can quickly modify the items using a combination of keyboard and mouse clicks, or hardware controller operations. dira Startrack displays the envelopes of each individual item as it contributes to the final mixdown for easy visual representation and relative positioning of the clips.

    Live editing

    Quickly make changes to workflows:

    • Playback of the current edit can be obtained at any time without rendering delays.
    • Changes made to the mix are instantly audible to enable fast and easy workflows.
    • Rendering is only necessary when saving a mixdown to the database or a local file.

    Steps to seamlessly integrate assets

    • Start by selecting the source material within dira Medox.
    • From there, a single click adds the material to the Startrack takeboard—a collection of items loaded into the editor and available for use.
    • The items can then be dragged into any of the tracks.
    • Adding audio from local files and direct recording to any track is also possible.
